Saturday School Tutoring at GSA-CAIRN

1 min read

Global Solidarity Advocates runs Saturday School through CAIRN: a small tutoring cohort for students who need a steady adult, a clear plan, and access to good tools.

Who it is for

Grades 6 through 12 first. Adult learners are welcome when a seat is open. We start with families in Prince William County, Manassas, and nearby Northern Virginia communities. Virtual seats are available when travel is the barrier.

What we teach

  • Math, with a written weekly plan tied to Khan Academy.

  • Reading and writing, including how to draft and revise with a tutor in the room.

  • Digital literacy: files, email, search, and accounts that actually work.

  • Using AI without cheating: how Khanmigo and similar tools can quiz, explain, and check work without replacing the student.

How a Saturday works

Two hours. Opening check. Focused practice. A short AI-supported review only after the student has tried the problem. A parent note goes home every four weeks.

In person: Intelligent Office, Manassas, Virginia. Virtual: a link sent the Friday before class.

Cohort 1

Target start: Saturday, September 12, 2026. Eight weeks. Capacity: 8 to 12 students. Sliding scale. A small materials fee may be requested so families treat the seat as real.

Request a seat at staff@gsa-cairn.org or use the Saturday School Intake form on this site.
