Our Story
GSA-CAIRN was born from a simple but powerful belief: the people who live with community challenges every day should also help research, understand, and solve them. While traditional think tanks often rely on academic experts and institutional researchers, CAIRN (Community AI Research Network) brings together everyday citizens, educators, students, professionals, entrepreneurs, veterans, and community leaders to use artificial intelligence as a tool for discovery, learning, collaboration, and action. We believe AI should be accessible to everyone—not just experts. That's why we help individuals understand complex documents, government systems, policies, and processes that can often feel confusing or overwhelming. Whether it's navigating public services, interpreting important paperwork, or making informed decisions, we empower people with the knowledge and tools to advocate for themselves and their communities. We are equally committed to expanding educational opportunity. Through our partnership with Khan Academy and the Khanmigo AI Tutor, we help students who cannot afford private tutoring gain access to world-class, personalized academic support. By combining AI-powered learning with community guidance, we strive to close learning gaps and ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their family's income. At GSA-CAIRN, we believe that when local knowledge is combined with the power of AI, communities can produce practical solutions that are faster, more relevant, and grounded in lived experience. Through research, education, digital literacy, public dialogue, and innovation, we are building a new model of citizen-powered problem-solving—one where every voice has value, every question deserves investigation, and every person has access to the knowledge and technology needed to thrive. As AI becomes one of the defining technologies of our time, our mission is to ensure that no community is left beGSA-CAIRN is founded on a powerful belief: those who face community challenges daily should actively participate in researching, understanding, and solving them.
